Singapore is famously a "Fine City" — in both senses of the word. Learn what's actually illegal, what the fines are, what surprises visitors, and what the serious laws no traveller should ignore.
Singapore is genuinely called a Fine City — the sign at Changi Airport listed the penalties and the pun was intentional. The fines are real, consistently enforced, and apply to everyone including tourists. The good news: most of them are obvious once you know they exist. The bad news: several are not obvious at all, and visitors discover them the hard way every day. This game is the 10-minute version of the briefing every visitor should receive at immigration.
You'll learn that chewing gum is legal to chew but illegal to buy. That vaping is illegal to import even if you don't use the device. That Singapore has not decriminalised cannabis in any form including CBD oil. That the tobacco duty-free concession was removed in February 2023. That retail alcohol sales end at 10:30 PM. And that the drug trafficking laws come with a mandatory death penalty above certain threshold quantities — no exceptions for foreign nationals, no tourist exemption.
The game includes myth-versus-fact questions for the most commonly misunderstood rules. The actual fine amounts are shown with each question. Certificate ranges from Tourist Alert to Legally Legit. The goal is not to frighten visitors — it is to give them the information so they arrive confident, not anxious.
